WELCOME TO CAPITAL SLAM

Capital Slam is the second longest running slam series in Canada. Every year swarms of poets compete from September to April for a chance to represent Ottawa at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. Only twelve of the regular season competitors qualify for the semi-finals in May, only eight move on to the finals in June, and only five are able to represent Capital Slam on the national stage. Along with the heated poetry competition, Capital Slam features local and/or national poetic and musical performers every month. Whether you are a seasoned wordsmith or simply a curious spectator, come and witness one of the most inspiring and enlightening events Ottawa has to offer.
